Immune Response to Chlamydia

چکیده
Following the chlamydial exposure, a series of events occur in host belonging to innate and adaptive immune systems. The first line defense against infections is mucosal secretions contain various antimicrobial peptides. complement system that can be part triggered by elementary bodies Chlamydiae. Chlamydiae escape from infect epithelial cells. are protected phagolysosome fusion generating inclusion formation. However, they recognized pattern recognition receptors (PRR), mainly Toll-like receptor 2. Chlamydia-PRR interaction resulted cytokine/chemokine secretion. cells reach infection site natural killer (NK) neutrophils. most important contribution NK this pathogen production high levels IFNγ. Neutrophils effective reducing load Chlamydia shortening duration infection. relationship neutrophils with pathology also discussed. Recognition MHC class II-restricted peptides presented dendritic via CD4 T initiates an response. IFNγ-mediated Th1 response essential for clearance. CD8 cells, which fewer numbers, have been suggested main cause infection-related immunopathology. B antibodies were found particularly preventing reinfection.

Host Immune Response to Chlamydia Infection
1. protection against intracellular bacteria is mediated by T cells, which are interacting, not directly with the pathogen, but with the infected cell surface; antibodies exhibit a minor effect on the immune protection against intracellular infections; 2. infections by intracellular bacteria is accompanied by delayed hypersensitivity reactions that occur after the local administration of solubl...
متن کاملAntibody response to chlamydia agents: lack of immunoglobulin M antibodies during the secondary immune response.
Intramuscular inoculation of the monkey with a massive dose of Chlamydia agent particles resulted in the production of high levels of immunoglobulin M antibodies. These antibodies were broadly specific and reacted to high titers with heterologous antigens. Challenge inoculation of the same monkeys with heterologous Chlamydia agent particles resulted in the production of increased levels of immu...
متن کاملCell-mediated immune response during primary Chlamydia pneumoniae infection.
The development of Chlamydia pneumoniae-specific cell-mediated immunity was studied during a primary C. pneumoniae infection. The immune response was detected as positive lymphocyte proliferation and secretion of interferon gamma. C. pneumoniae-induced activation of both CD4(+) and CD8(+) T cells was detected in the early phase of infection, but activation of only CD4(+) T cells was detected in...
متن کاملHost immune response to Chlamydia pneumoniae heat shock protein 60 is associated with asthma.
Chlamydia pneumoniae infection has been associated with asthma. It has also been suggested that heat shock protein 60 (Hsp60) belonging to a class of highly conserved proteins may play a role in the pathogenesis of chlamydial infections. The purpose was to study whether the host immune response to C. pneumoniae Hsp60 is associated with asthma and decreased pulmonary function. An enzyme immunoas...
